Direct Pay Online (DPO) Group have acquired PayThru South Africa. PayThru was established in Kenya in 2010 and their knowledge and expertise in the mobile online payment sector has seen steady growth and a number of high quality clients over the last six years. This acquisition cements DPO’s position as the leading e-commerce group in Africa now operating in Uganda, Rwanda, Zanzibar, Tanzania, Ethiopia, Zambia, South Africa, Zimbabwe, Namibia and Botswana.
Offer Gat, DPO Group Chairman, said “Our vision is to provide one payment solution across Africa.” Last year DPO, which was established in Kenya in 2006, took a step closer to this goal by merging with PayGate (Pty) Ltd, a leading online payments processor in South Africa. In March this year, they expanded into Botswana and Namibia, acquiring Virtual Card Services, a card processing system for electronics payments. These acquisitions provide a single contact point for merchants to accept payments across Africa.
