Muankaban, the Equatorial Guinean supermarket operator, has opened its fourth store in the country. The new store is in Ebebiyin, a city of 40,000 people that sits at the north east border with Gabon and Cameroon. Muankaban already had a store in Bata, 220km away on the northern coast, which opened in October 2014. Neither of the other two major supermarket operators, Martinez Hernandez or Comercial Santy, have yet opened a store in Ebebiyin.
Muankaban aims at middle class consumers in Equatorial Guinea, although it emphasises that it targets all social groups.
