Erevan Benin SA, Système U’s partner in Benin, has opened a new 1,200m² supermarket in Akpakba, Cotonou. The new store is at the PK3 crossroads on the road to Porto-Novo. It is the third Super U in Benin. The first store was a 4,000m² hypermarket that started life as Hypermarché Erevan in 2010 and was rebranded as a Super U store in late 2012. Erevan has also opened a smaller format neighborhood store, U Express, by Marché Ganhi in Cotonou.
Erevan is controlled by the Tchifteyan family, an Armenian-French family that arrived in the country in 1953.
