Goodlife Pharmacy
Vivo Energy, the pan-African Shell service station licensee, has signed a partnership in Uganda with leading East African pharmacy chain GoodLife to roll out pharmacies on service station forecourts.

Goodlife Pharmacy, which has 32 branches in Kenya and stores in Kampala and Entebbe, has signed a partnership agreement with Vivo Energy. Vivo Energy is the pan-African Shell service station licensee with around 1,800 Shell-branded petrol stations across 15 African countries. It operates 117 service stations in Uganda and 123 service stations in Kenya.

Goodlife Pharmacy already has outlets on Vivo Energy forecourts in Nairobi – on the Thika Rd, on the Lang’ata Rd, on Ngong Rd in Karen, at Athi River, and in Hurlingham.

The partnership aims to develop  significant network of Goodlife pharmacies on Shell forecourts in Uganda. Goodlife has operated in Uganda since in 2016, and currently has a tiny presence in the country.

According to Vivo Energy Uganda, it is refurbishing its existing Shell service stations and looking to install convenience stores, fast food restaurants, pharmacies, ATMs, tyre centres and car wash facilities.

Both companies are in investment mode and keen to expand. Vivo Energy completed a successful IPO in May 2018 on the London Stock Exchange, valuing the company at $2.7bn. In November 2016, LeapFrog Investments acquired a majority stake in Goodlife Pharmacy for $22m.
