Juhayna Food reports growth, stronger in milk and yoghurt segments

Egyptian manufacturer Juhayna Food Industries reported 30% profit in Q1 2018. The company said the growth referred mainly to the dairy and yoghurt segments and were possible due to efforts of debt reduction and restructuring.

Leading Egyptian dairy manufacturer Juhayna Food Industries has reported strong Q1 performance, with a 31% rise in net profit, compared to Q1 2017. This amounted to EGP 81m ($4.57m) contributed to a 21% year-on-year growth in total revenue, which reached EGP 1.53bn ($86.45m).

Juhayna’s good performance was mainly driven by the milk and yoghurt sectors, which represented 51% and 20% of revenues, respectively. However, the company said that its efforts during the past year to reduce debt restructure its operation have also had positive effects in profit increase. In a statement Juhayna said it is confident it “will achieve its future objectives to create shareholder value.” Juhayna is currently focusing on the African market following the significant growth in the Egypt’s exports to the continent, which have increased by 200% just last year.

Juhayna Food Industries is an Egyptian manufacturer focused on the processing and production of dairy, juice and cooking products. It was founded in 1983 and, today, it is one of the leading dairy manufacturers in Egypt, particularly in the milk market. Juhayna serves more than 65,000 retail outlets, being the sole supplier of Mcdonald’s Egypt. In 2015, Juhayna entered a joint venture with dairy manufacturer Arla Foods which gave Juhayna the exclusive license to sell Arla cheese, butter and cream. These are all products in which Arla has extensive experience in both Africa and the Middle East but of which Juhayna has very limited production.
