Bel Achat (Nana Bouba Group)
Distribution and industrial firm Nana Bouba Group has opened its third Bel Achat supermarket in Cameroon, marking its entry as a serious supermarket player.

Nana Bouba Group (NBG), the Cameroonian distribution and industrial group, has opened a new Bel Achat supermarket. The new store is in Ndokoti (Douala) in the Bassa industrial zone. It will operate under NBG’s SOACAM subsidiary, best known for producing the Azur soap brand.

The new supermarket has 1,300m² of retail space and will be open seven days a week, from 7am to 9pm in the evening. Ndokoti is famous for its congestion and industry but has recently seen the establishment of Santa Lucia, Saker and now Bel Achat modern supermarkets.

The Ndokoti store is the third Bel Achat supermarket. The first Bel Achat supermarket was launched in February 2017 in Bonapriso, an upscale neighbourhood in Douala. The second store was launched in Yaoundé.

Domestic supermarket chains are rushing to establish a foothold in the grocery retail market ahead of Carrefour’s arrival in 2019. The French hypermarket chain is casting a long shadow already in the modern grocery retail sector in Cameroon. Beside a long list of domestic grocery chains expanding their networks Casino, Spar, Système U and Choithrams are already in market.
