Dairy company Arla Foods is opening a new factory in Ghana to cope with rising demand for dairy products. It is its fourth facility in West Africa.
Arla Foods, the Scandinavian dairy cooperative, has announced plans to open a new sales and packaging facility in Ghana. The new facility will be sited in the Tema Industrial Park, east of Accra. It will employ 8 people and start operations this month.
Arla plans to use the facility to supply powdered milk, butter and cheese from the Dano, Arla and Lurpak brands. The company has committed to tripling its revenues in Sub-Saharan Africa by 2020.
Arla operates three other sites in West Africa:
- Côte d’Ivoire: Arla established a packaging facility with Mata Holding (which is also the Citydia partner) in Abidjan in 2013.
- Nigeria: Arla established a packaging facility with the Tolaram Group (local manufacturer of Indomie, Power pasta and Kellogg’s partner) in Lagos in 2015.
- Senegal: Arla established a packaging facility with Agroline in Dakar in 2016, which willa act as a hub for Mali and Mauritania.
