Choithrams supermarket has, for the second time, partnered with the United Nations World Food Programme, to raise funds to fight child hunger.
Like last year, the retailer conducted in-store campaigns in 20 of its Dubai outlets that saw customers donating during checkout and Choithrams matching that donation. The funds were primarily destined to people in need in Jordan and Benin where, according to chairman L.T. Pagarani, donations could be “redeemed by refugees through a card at their supermarket”. Choithrams additionally donated Dh918,287 which will fund the distribution of meals to 2,100 children in Atacora, Benin.
Founded in Sierra Leone, the Choithrams group today operates across several countries in Africa and the Middle East, especially in the Emirates, in fields like retailing, wholesaling, and manufacturing of edible and non-edible items.
