Konga.com goes back into grocery retail

May 4, 2017

Five years after it pulled its grocery retail offer, Nigerian online retailer Konga.com has started selling grocery products again with its new service, Konga Daily.

Konga.com, the Nigerian online retailer, has re-entered the grocery retail market, following a successful trial. The new service, called Konga Daily, aims to provide consumers with packaged, fresh and frozen food and a wide range of consumer products within 24 hours of ordering. It will compete directly against existing players in Nigeria including Gloo.ng and Supermart.ng as well as internet giant Jumia.

The service is currently only available for customers in Lagos. Customers can choose to pay on delivery, online or alternatively use Konga’s own system, KongaPay to earn discounts. The new grocery service is being promoted as both convenient and cost saving under the strapline “Leave the Hustle to Mama K.”

According to Konga’s Chairman Sharafa Sim, Konga has over 300,000 registered merchants who deal in products such as yam, yam flour, maize, plantain, cocoa yam, stockfish, crayfish, ugwu and tomatoes.
