Libya’s largest shopping mall has opened in the town of Tarhouna, southeast of capital Tripoli. The new mall, which has a retail floorspace of 12,000m², will have 260 different stores almost all of which, according to representatives, have been already rented.
The opening of the new outlet has excited local traders, especially in the context of the current Libyan political and economic crisis. Libyan businessmen have seen this as a sign that the private sector can survive the crisis and develop without government intervention.
