Sefalana, the Gaborone-listed Botswanan cash and carry, retail, vehicle dealership and property conglomerate, has released a strong set of financial results for the year ending April 2016. Revenues have grown year on year by 10.4% to P3.8bn (US$370m).
Revenues have been driven by its cash and carry operations: Sefalana Cash and Carry Limited and Metro Namibia contributed 92% of revenues and 57% of profit before tax. The Cash Carry on its own accounted contributed 64% of overall revenues and 48% of profit before tax.
The group has 22 “Shopper” supermarkets in Botswana, 25 cash and carry outlets and 3 Hyper Store hypermarkets. In early 2016 it opened two retail stores, one in Mogoditshane and another in Hukuntsi.
