Prix Import opens its eighth supermarket in Gabon

Gabonnais retailer Prix Import has opened it eighth supermarket in Gabon. The new store is in Nzeng-Ayong, the main quarter of the 6th Arrondissement of Libreville. The Nzeng Ayong store is part of a multi-story shopping centre in the heart of what a thriving commercial area.

The new supermarket cements Prix Import’s position as the second largest supermarket retailer in the country, after Ceca Gadis (also known as La Compagnie d’Exploitations Commerciales Africaines). All of the company’s stores are in and around Libreville. Prix Import supermarkets feature mainly imported products, which account for 80-90% of stock.

Prix Import was founded in 1992 and employs 750 people in Gabon. It operates in distribution, wholesale and retail. Wholesale and distribution accounts for roughly 55% of its turnover and the company claims to have around 500 trade customers nationally. The company claims to serve more than 7,000 customers daily and to have invested more than CFA12bn ($21.5m) in Gabon since 2009.
